The collection "Musikalische Frühlingsfrüchte" (Musical Spring Fruits) by the director of the Hamburg Ratsmusik Dietrich Becker gave the CordArte ensemble's program its name. The musicians juxtapose their selection from this delightful collection of sonatas with several examples by Becker's contemporaries and successors, which beautifully documents the blossoming of the North German stylus phantasticus in the second half of the 17th century. The composers around Buxtehude gathered here do not yet indulge in Roman classicism à la Corelli in their chamber music works, but rather fascinate with their rhapsodic compositional style in places.
