opis
In contrast to Handel, who as a young man travelled to Italy and celebrated triumphs there as 'caro Sassone', Telemann was a mature man in his mid-50s when he set off on the long-planned journey to Paris in 1737/38, where he was received as a famous musician of European format. As one of the early pioneers of intellectual property rights, he succeeded in obtaining a 20-year right to the exclusive publication of his works - this 'general privilege' was immediately used for a magnificent printing of his Parisian quartets. A further yield of his stay in Paris was the Psalm Deus judicium tuum, which was successfully performed at the famous Concerts Spirits. Handel's Dixit Dominus, on the other hand, is the stormy stroke of genius of a 22-year-old young man who was able to bask in the splendour of the cardinals' magnificent courts in Rome.
