A selection of lieder from the Raucheisen project of the German Radio System (RRG). Recorded between 1942 and 1945; includes 19 previously unissued recordings.
On the occasion of Hans Hotter's death, Music & Arts has released a double album that documents the singer's collaboration on a project initiated by pianist Michael Raucheisen for German radio between 1942 and 1945. Well-known German singers were supposed to work out an exemplary anthology of lieder singing. The opportunity was favorable, because Hotter had devoted himself more to the song anyway due to the restrictions of the Second World War. The present album presents 19 previously unpublished song recordings that show the young singer at the height of his art.
