"The degree of inventiveness is astonishingly high. Il rdellino (which opens the program) is rightly famous, but the G minor movement RV 107 is also remarkable, with a touching slow siciliano movement; it ends with a chaconne that retains the minor key. RV 88 has a remarkably cheerful opening movement and then highlights the flute in both its central Largo cantabile and another chirping finale. RV 89 effectively brings about a color change in the use of a violin pair in juxtaposition to the flute.
