opis
The Berlin Philharmonic and National Socialism. This film by Enrique Sanchez Lansch takes a look at the years between 1933 and 1945, a rather unknown chapter in the history of the Berlin PO. Funded by the German Reich, the Philharmonic Orchestra was the flagship orchestra and thus representatives of the National Socialist regime. The focus of the film is the orchestra itself, the musicians, the people, the individual fates. They were far less exposed than their chief conductor Wilhelm Furtwängler, but at that time they came close to power. They lived and worked in a collective. This protected them, but also made it easier for individuals not to face individual responsibility - even after 1945. Contemporary witnesses who are still alive and archive material that has not yet been presented enable an insight into the microcosm. An exciting and explosive chapter in the history of Berlin and Germany comes to life again. • Running time: 90 minutes.
