Plain-chant and polyphonies from the 13th century by one of the most famous early music ensembles, on the occasion of the 8th centenary of the Dominicans.

In 1206, Dominique de Guzmán founded a female community in the hamlet of Prouilhe, near Carcassonne, around a chapel dedicated to Notre-Dame. It was in Prouilhe that, from 1206 to 1217, he regularly provided his teaching before founding the order of Brother Preachers and sending his disciples to travel the world.
In 1217, the Order moved to Paris, at the top of the rue Saint-Jacques (hence their name of Jacobins): very close to the cathedral and the university, they then found themselves at the heart of this Paris bubbling with musical creation and intellectual life.
After his canonization in 1234, the feast of Saint Dominic was quickly integrated into the Order's calendar and new songs were composed in his honor. Magnificent manuscripts, notably from Dominican convents, allow us to revive this plainsong repertoire.
Alternating plain-song, vocal polyphonies and songs to the Virgin, this album thus offers a sound evocation of the first century of the life of the Order, by granting a privileged place to the Dominican nuns: You do not know that me fist Jhesus-Crist, my friends, when Jacobine fists me with great love ..
