The enthusiasm for the compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach is unbroken: his passions are among the most famous works of sacred music. The St. Thomas Boys Choir Leipzig performs the St. John Passion and the St. Matthew Passion on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday in the St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, where Johann Sebastian Bach himself once held the cantorate. Together with outstanding soloists as well as the internationally famous Gewandhaus Orchestra, a recording has been made which is emotionally moving: The musical realisation is based on the biblical text and allows the listener to experience the suffering of Christ in sound.
