The Greek poet, who had inspired the birth of modern tragedy at the end of the Quattrocento and opera a century later, was still a powerful stimulus to the composers of the late Baroque. This disc features works by Italian composers Alessandro Scarlatti and Giambattista Pergolesi and French composers Louis-Nicolas Clerambault and Jean-Philippe Rameau. Im is supported by the ample talents of the Akademie fur Alte Musik Berlin.
