opis
Train and subway station managers the world over, shopkeepers big and small, are all turning to Classical Music to keep loiterers at bay! From the Metro in Paris, to McDonalds in Sydney, downtown YMCA in Columbus and major train and metro stations all across the US, all have, in recent years, resorted to Classical Music to 'restore order', classical favourites being deployed as a 'social deterrent' to keep intimidating wannabe-gangster types away. All this has resulted in a revelation for violinist Gil Shaham: “As a violinist dedicated to my art I have always looked to help the Greater Good. When I heard that Classical Music is used as a tool to drive away loiterers I thought I’d found my niche”. What does it say about our society today when fine music is being used as a deterrent! Here at Canary Classics we decided to make it easier for those looking for the perfect remedy to loiterers. We are happy when people are listening to classical music whatever the situation, and a little saddened that it is deployed as a social deterrent in public spaces. We can’t wait for the day when people actually just sit around and keep listening, then we will have to re-title this release as ‘Gil Shaham’s Favourites!’ ... Vol.1 ... he has a long list of favourites!
