A flâneur is not in a hurry, he strolls. And apparently, the motto "Good things come to those who wait" also applied to the release of the present CD, which was recorded by the quartet of tenor saxophonist Michael Adkins in 2008, but only released at the beginning of 2018. With the trio of drummer chaser Paul Motian (Russ Lossing, piano; Larry Grenadier, bass), who died in 2011, Adkins had the ideal accompaniment for his two jazzy city walks through Manhattan entitled "First Walk" and "Second Walk". This successful production from A to Z is the eagerly awaited continuation of the CD "Rotator", which was released by "hatology" in 2007. In "Flaneur" and "Rotator" Adkins was accompanied by the fascinating Paul Motian Trio, this time again with Motian's long time favourite pianist Russ Lossing. In the Manhattan Walk, however, bassist Larry Grenadier has now taken the place of his predecessor John Hébert.
