Alternating with the Gregorian chant of Ludus Modalis, organist Freddy Eichelberger improvises a mass in honour of St. Michale in the old French tradition. As was customary at the time, the singing is supported on the serpent, which improvises above the bass line. What in those days could often end in a cacophonous catastrophe with untalented or unmotivated musicians, becomes here an impressive, even spiritual musical experience.
