La Nature

For its 22nd edition, La Folle Journée will explore the universal theme of nature. From the outset fascinated by the alternation of the seasons, the diversity of the landscapes or the unleashing of the elements, men have always tried to translate into music the infinite palette of sensations that contact with nature gave them; we can say that music is truly born of nature, and that this has not ceased to inspire musicians through the ages. From medieval music to the contemporary period, from Clément Janequin to Olivier Messiaen, the history of music is that of a constant and constantly renewed relationship with nature.
