Kuhlau: Complete Works for Piano Four Hands
Admired by Beethoven, Friedrich Kuhlau made the four-hand piano his own.
From the buoyant early Sonata in F major, Op. 8b to the Beethovenian struggle of the ‘Allegro pathétique’, this is music for two players at a single keyboard: melodically rich, formally adventurous, by turns convivial and dramatic.
Xenia Kandel Frederiksen and Marie-Luise Bodendorff present the complete works, together a cornerstone of the Danish four-hand repertoire.
Marie-Luise Bodendorff has previously released two succesful albums with piano music by Kuhlau: Works for Solo Piano Vol. 1 (CD 8.226204) and Works for Solo Piano Vol. 2 (CD 8.226205).
