Philip Entremont’s performances of Tchaikovsky’s two major string works string works communicate above all a feeling of passionate thrust and energy. After the ardour of the Elégie, the finale steals in persuasively, with dance-rhyrhms bracing and strong. The Souvenier de Florence has comparable momentum and eagerness.
