The Argentine tango is not only a musical style, but also a dance. However, the dance has nothing in common with the strenuous, jerky, rigid, and artificial movements of the European tango, even though it shares the same name. The Argentine tango is a much more authentic, vibrant expression of everyday experiences and feelings.

The tango is the product of diverse cultural influences such as the candombe (a ritual dance of East African slaves deported to South America), the habanera (a dance from Spain and Cuba), and the milonga (rural Creole dance). Immigrants from Italy and other parts of Europe were the most important influences. It is a typical example of the creativity of a multicultural society that emerged from the fertile soil of loneliness, conflict, and longing for the lost motherland.

In the last decade, the tango has experienced a renaissance. The famous "Tango Argentino" group contributed to its recapture in Europe, Japan, and North America.

Hugo Díaz dedicates this record especially to tango dancers and showcases his talent with heart and soul. To this end, he deliberately chose a clear, simple rhythm. Pure music fans will appreciate his typical, original taste, the rhythmic presence of Luis Etchebarne, and the virtuoso playing of Vinicio Ascone.

Hugo Díaz's tango is imaginative and of high artistic quality. The perfect interplay of the musicians is evident in the constant variation of tempo and rhythm and the subtle interpretations of tango stories: they touch our souls and make us vibrate with the tango and its brilliant interpreters.
