Hossam Ramzy, Egypt's ambassador of rhythm, has played with many pop, rock and jazz greats. In the mid-70s, the Cairo-born musician moved to England, where he enjoyed great success as a jazz and Latin drummer, playing with renowned jazz musicians such as Andy Sheppard and Geoff Williams. A passionate percussionist and outstanding tabla player, he has lent an Egyptian or Middle Eastern rhythm and beat to the albums of some of the world's top artists such as Peter Gabriel, Joan Armatrading, Mari Wilson, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page (ex Led Zeppelin), which have taken them to the top of the charts.

Hossam himself has released over 25 albums and even two DVDs of Egyptian dance and world music, some of which are particularly dedicated to percussion and the rhythms of the world. He has also worked on award-winning film soundtracks such as "Stargate", "Wings Of A Dove", "The Saint", "The Huchback Of Notre Dame", "Stealing Beauty", "The Last Temptation Of Christ", "Stardust" and "Prince Of Persia". For his album "Immortal Egypt" he was awarded the New Age Voice Award for "Best Contemporary World Music".

After all these successes, Hossam Ramzy has now fulfilled a long-cherished wish and invited some artists he greatly admires to join him on a joint album project, which is now being released under the title "Rock The Tabla". His special guests include the two-time Academy Award winner and five-time Oscar-nominated film music creator A. R. Rahman ("Slumdog Millionaire"), the equally award-winning French percussionist and drummer Manu Katché, the Turkish multi-instrumentalist Omar Faruk Tekbilek and the legendary drummer/bandleader Billy Cobham. They all make "Rock The Tabla" a top-class album!
