This is the crowning finale of the complete recording of all Joseph Haydn string quartets on historical instruments with the Festetics Quartet. It is both the last recording that the label founder Michel Bernstein, who died in 2006, was able to complete a few months before his death, and the first recording that will be released under the new management of the label and will continue Bernstein's life's work. With the String Quartets Op. 33 in 1781, Haydn presented nothing less than model works of Viennese classical music, which had a decisive influence on the idea of what a string quartet should be in the future.
