Following the example of the fathers of the French flute school, Taffanel and Le Roy, and their successor Jean-Pierre Rampal, Juliette Hurel has realized transcriptions of three Haydn string quartets here. Hélène Couvert chose an Erard grand piano from 1903 for the recording, whereby she was less interested in historical authenticity than in an aesthetically appropriate timbre for the music.
