About 45 km from the city of Cuzco lies Andahuaylillas. The village church of San Pedro, built at the end of the 16th century, with its sober Renaissance façade, gives no idea that its interior contains magnificent Baroque murals and wood carvings covered with gold leaf, which have earned the church the nickname "Sistine Chapel of the Andes". Two organs from the early 17th century also belong to the church; after a thorough restoration, the two instruments were able to raise their original voices again for the first time in October 2008. This CD was created on the occasion of the consecration of the newly acquired instruments to the organ. Local musicians still enrich the CD with sacred works in Quechua with a fascinating local colour.
