The winding path between Outward Bound and Out to Lunch is easy to explain when you consider that a freelance musician treads paths that few are willing or able to tread. This led him to his fateful trip to Europe two months after recording Out to Lunch. Had he returned after his planned year-long stay, Dolphy might have picked up where he left off.
