opis
Emilie Mayer's works bear witness to an indomitable personality, despite having languished for so long in the shadow of her male peers. The musicians of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin have resolved to do her justice with a revelatory symphonic triptych of albums, of which this is the first volume. They begin with two of her most remarkable works, the piano concerto and first symphony, alongside her early Overture in C and the consistently inventive Overture in D minor.
•Mayer, E: Piano Concerto in B flat major
•Mayer, E: Overture No. 3
•Mayer, E: Symphony No. 1 in C minor
Everything is played on period instruments, including a Blüthner piano handpicked by Alexander Melnikov, the soloist in the piano concerto.
Works:
•Mayer, E: Overture in D minor
•Mayer, E: Piano Concerto in B flat major
•Mayer, E: Overture No. 3
