Damien is a mysterious violinist who plays in a "non-classical" style and prefers rock. Didier is a pillar of the Belgian folk and world music scene. It's these differences that really characterize the band; a duplex, a duality - balanced by Oliver Cox's powerful drum beats and Quentin Nguyen's distinctive keyboard tones.
The result of their creative union is Maelstrom - a dreamy and surreal musical travel diary inspired by real and imagined journeys, inspired by European literature, pop culture and Belgium's rich seafaring tradition. This musical journey around the world is comparable to Le tour du monde en quatre-vingts jours, Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne.
It is a hypnotic waking dream that traverses the globe and time in an anarchic journey of nostalgia and discovery - with landfalls in countries such as Canada and Bulgaria, the cities of London and New York, before finally landing on a Caribbean beach. Each song on the journey has a distinctly European feel, with world music influences woven throughout.
