Beschreibung
"Today one is happy when someone like Berezovsky does not approach his Brahms in a misty northern German or Russian bearish manner. He has found the ideal partners in the ambitious musicians of the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra, which is still rather unknown in our country. The conductor Dmitri Liss, born in 1960, has already performed with almost the entire Russian soloist elite and therefore knows how to enter into a dialogue with a virtuoso like Berezovsky - especially in the merciless Brahms concerto a prerequisite for success. Freshness and elegance: until the whirling finale, everyone is close together and delivers a worthwhile new recording. Even the strict Svyatoslav Richter would have smiled. As an encore, the CD features the tricky 'Paganini Variations' by Brahms, the ideal dessert to accompany the sumptuous main course. • Spiegel online 05 / 11
