Historic guitarist James Akers returns to the Resonus Classics label with this program of classical works for guitar and piano. Along with his duo partner, fortepianist Gary Branch, this unforgettable recording presents music written for domestic settings by some of the leading composers of the era—Mauro Giuliani, Ferdinando Carulli, Ignaz Moscheles, and Anton Diabelli—most of whom lived in Vienna for a time.
Recorded on historic instruments, including a rare original Conrad Graf fortepiano from 1826, this elegant album is one of the last to be recorded at Finchcock's Musical Museum in Kent.
