opis
His recordings with Archie Shepp and his 7-Tette established Bill Dixon as a distinctive jazz modiste who was ahead of the curve, carving a niche for himself in a crowded field of emerging artists. But it is his orchestral pieces Intents and Purposes (= CD tracks 5-8) that established his uniqueness. Together, they form the first chapter of a musical legacy that continues to grow in importance and influence. • (Bill Shoemaker)
