Ustad Sabri Khan is one of India's most renowned musicians. He comes from a long line of equally distinguished musicians on both sides of his family.
He is a master of the sarangi, a string instrument carved from a single piece of hardwood, considered one of the most difficult instruments to master.
Here he plays two extended ragas, accompanied by his sons Kamal Sabri (sarangi) and Sarvar Sabri (tabla).
In the first ragas, they are accompanied by Sonia Sabri and in the second by Wilfred Masih. Both play the tanpura, which resembles a sitar and provides the drone accompaniment.
