After Haydn and Mozart had already won full independence for the piano trio in Vienna, Beethoven once again opened up a whole new dimension for the genre. "Presentiments of joyfulness" had seized E. T. A. Hoffmann under the impression of Beethoven's instrumental music, which sounded like "coming from an unknown land". The wanderers ventured deep into this new world and marked out their map with great precision. Can one imagine more knowledgeable travel companions?
For the first time, the Triple Concerto is heard in the musicians' wonderful reading together with their outstanding complete recording of the Bonn master's piano trios.
