Georg Philipp Telemann was the first German composer to incorporate elements of Polish folk music into his own works. He did not limit himself to simple elements and dance forms, but shaped the orchestral and ensemble sound with Slavic melodies and rhythms. Syncopations and frequent tempo changes are significant. The ensemble Holland Baroque Society, which was able to win the Slovak violinist and all-round artist Milos Valent as soloist and conductor for this project, relies on such works.
