Georg Muffat's 'Selected Instrumental Music mingling Seriousness and Pleasure' was published in Passau in 1701. The set contains 12 concerti grossi, half of which already have been recorded for Naxos by Musica Aeterna Bratislava. This follow-up again delivers capable performances...Movements are usually short, but the Concerto No. 12 (G major) includes an extraordinary Chaconne--at more than nine minutes, it nearly exceeds the duration of several of Muffat's complete concertos.
