Valery Gergiev, who has held the position of chief conductor of the Munich Philharmonic since 2015, led his then new ensemble to the legendary BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall London in 2016 for an extremely varied, dramatic and lively concert evening.

The brilliant Uzbek pianist Behzod Abduraimov inspired in Rachmaninov's 3rd Piano Concerto with gripping virtuosity; the lyrics of Galina Ustvolskaya's after-effect and profound 3rd Symphony Jesus Messiah, Save Us! were recited by the Russian stage and film actor Alexei Petrenko. Together with a hypnotic Boléro, the alternately tender, flowery and moody Rosenkavalier-Suite and the rousing Hungarian March of Berlioz an evening of musical superlatives was created!
