The ravishing Stabat Mater is one of Gioachino Rossini's most important works. Alberto Zedda was considered the most important and influential Rossini exegete until his death this year. And so this live recording from 15 January 2011 brings together what belongs together. Alberto Zedda had begun an intensive collaboration with Opera Vlaanderen in his last years, and so he realized this impressive concertante live recording in Belgium with an outstanding vocal quartet and the opera choir of the house. So this is not only Alberto Zedda's legacy, but also an impressive demonstration of the quality of the musical forces of Opera Vlaanderen.
