Franz Joseph Rosinack was a resourceful man. As first oboist of the Fürstenbergische Kapelle in Donaueschingen, the exiled Bohemian took masterpieces of his time and arranged them for brilliant solo performances. The fact that he did not even stop at Joseph Haydn's string quartets speaks for a certain chutzpah - the result, however, can be heard: Gernot Schmalfuß and the Consortium Classicum present two of the oboe quartets in the new edition of a long out-of-print production - in an attractive juxtaposition with Mozart's original masterpiece for the same instrumentation.
