The Rambert Dance Company is the oldest ballet company founded in Great Britain. From the very beginning, "Ballet Rambert", as the company was known for short, was appreciated for its special creativity and its flair for tastefully harmonizing innovation and tradition. There are three productions on this DVD: The second string quartet by Leos Janácek served choreographer Christopher Bruce as the musical and thematic basis for his ballet Intimate Pages. Robert North's jazz ballet Lonely Town, Lonely Street paints a picture of lonely people in the big city that is as passionate as it is full of energy. Christopher Bruce's choreography Seargent Early's Dream uses English, Irish and American folk songs to develop a story that symbolizes migration from the old to the new world.
