With this programme, Theatre of Voices present an impressive mosaic of sound examples of church singing and polyphonic music, both from the Western European tradition as well as from the tradition of Eastern Europe. The common thread running through them all is something that could be called medieval sensitivity for sound and expression. The title of this CD refers on the one hand to the mostly fragmentary tradition of music from long gone times in manuscripts that are often incomplete or damaged; on the other hand it alludes to the fragmentation of Christianity in Western and Eastern churches.
