Each of the Utrera native s appearances provided an opportunity to marvel at his sturdy, powerful and sonorous voice. For Curro, singing was obviously a way to call forth and express things hidden deep inside him. In his hands, the cante was a vast concept seeming to come from the very depths of his heart, his belly; his very entrails. He stretched his melody out in time, showing he had big lungs and a big heart.
